What our kitchens cost
Ask a kitchen company what their kitchens cost and most will tell you it depends. It does depend — on the size of the room, the materials and how much of the work is ours.
But that is not a reason to keep the numbers to yourself. Here is what we charge and what moves it.
Typical projects
Complete — design, cabinetry, hand-painting, worktops, fitting and VAT.
Galley or single-run kitchen
Typically 8 to 12 cabinets, one worktop run, no island.
£18,000 to £24,000
Kitchen with island
Typically 14 to 20 cabinets, island with seating, two worktop materials.
£24,000 to £32,000
Kitchen, utility and boot room
The whole rear of the house, fitted as one job.
£30,000 to £45,000
Cabinetry on its own, without worktops or appliances, starts at £12,000.

What moves the price
Size of the run
Cabinetry is priced per linear metre, so a longer kitchen costs more in a straight line.
Worktop material
Laminate to quartz to natural stone can be a £4,000 swing on the same kitchen.
Ironmongery
Solid brass rather than plated is roughly £600 across a typical kitchen.
Painting
A single colour throughout costs less than a contrasting island.
The design fee
The design consultation is £750. If you order a kitchen, it comes off the price in full. If you do not, you keep the drawings and the survey, and you are free to take them anywhere.
What you get for twenty years
A Marlbeck kitchen is built to be kept, not replaced. Three things make that possible.
Repaint, do not replace
In-frame cabinets are painted, not sealed behind a foil. When the colour dates or the finish tires, the doors come off and go back through the spray booth. You change the colour, not the kitchen.
The hinge hangs on the frame
The hinge is fitted to the solid frame, not to the thin side of a cabinet. Decades on, the doors still close where they should — the timber taking the wear is the same frame the hinge was hung on.
Solid brass, not plated
The handles, knobs and catches are solid brass. Plating wears through to the metal underneath. Solid brass wears in, and keeps its weight and feel for decades.
